About Old Bones Backpackers

Old Bones Backpackers was built in 2005, and designed specifically as a backpacker lodge. There are 6 twin rooms and 2 double, making a maximum of just 16 persons.

4 kms South of Oamaru (5 minute drive from Oamaru's penguin viewing)

The lodge is surrounded by open countryside and bordered by Awamoa Creek, which is the site of an ancient Maori settlement, inhabited by 30-100 people, some 600-800 years ago.

Beautiful internal wood finishing compliments high quality furnishing and bedding.

Spacious, open-plan design will suit those who like to be sociable, while gazing out over the Pacific Ocean.

Grazing farm animals, and a variety of fresh and salt water birds are your closest neighbours.

Fall asleep to the sound of braking waves.

The lodge is owned and operated by Gloria and Wayne Bason.
